About Rabbit Class
Rabbit is our nursery class for children aged 20-36 months.
We have a maximum of 12 children per session with 3 members of staff (Adult – child ratio for under 2’s is 1:3) and (1:4 for 2-3 year olds) Sessions for children under 2 yrs are generally in the afternoon.
The sessions include a variety of child led and planned activities. The environment and resources support every child’s learning and development, building upon their social skills, confidence to explore and learn in a safe and stimulating environment. Resources such as: play dough, paints, sand, duplo, jigsaws, construction and role play toys are always available with daily free flow access to the outdoor areas.
Small group activities are planned to help develop social skills/turn taking and sharing together.
Mid morning we have a break for drinks and snack, followed by story time/finger play and singing
Parents are requested to provide a named bag with spare nappies and wipes (if needed) and a spare change of clothes.
All children at the pre-school have access to the stunning National Trust parkland that runs at the back of the Pre-school. Children regularly participate in class nature walks which encourage good group interaction and awareness of others. We like to take the children out whatever the weather and ask that you provide waterproofs and wellies so that we can splash in the puddles on rainy days.
We have an outside wildlife area which has a mud kitchen which proves very popular! There is a willow tree tunnel, water and pebble play, wooden see saw as well as an outdoor xylophone. This area borders the chicken coop and we regularly visit the chicken to watch their progress, feed and care for them.
At the front of the pre-school we have a large play area with ride-on toys and bikes as well as lots of play equipment for children to enjoy. There is a separate wooden play zone with climbing equipment and a slide, digging patches and a small pond for the slightly older children.
